StickyTabs for Mac

StickyTabs does not collect, store, or share any personal data. Your stickies are notes in your own Apple Notes, and they never pass through anything of ours.

Where your stickies live

• Each sticky is an ordinary note in the Notes app on your Mac, in a folder called StickyTabs, in your own Notes account.
• If that account is iCloud, Apple syncs those notes between your devices exactly as it syncs any other note. That is Apple's service, under Apple's privacy policy — we are not part of it and cannot see any of it.
• There is no StickyTabs account and no StickyTabs server. Nothing is created for you anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to be created.

What the app reads and writes

Notes has no programming interface, so StickyTabs works the only way macOS allows: by sending Apple events to the Notes app, which is what the "control Notes" permission is for. It uses that access only for its own folder.

• It reads the notes directly inside the StickyTabs folder — their text, their colour mark, and the pictures attached to them.
• It writes those same notes: the text you type, the colour you pick, and pictures you paste, which are attached to the note under names beginning StickyTabs picture and StickyTabs colour.
• It does not read your other folders or your other notes, and it never writes outside its own folder.
• Pictures you paste are attached to your note and stay there, in your Notes account. No copy is sent anywhere.

The "control Notes" permission

macOS grants this permission for the Notes app as a whole — that is how macOS works, not a choice StickyTabs makes — and StickyTabs uses it only as described above. You can withdraw it at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation. Without it the app can't show or save stickies, and says so.

No internet, no tracking

StickyTabs makes no network connections of its own. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party services, and no usage data of any kind. Nothing you write is uploaded to us, because nothing is sent to us at all.

What is stored on your Mac

Only the app's own settings — which screen edge the strip is on, which colour style to use in Notes, and similar preferences. They stay on your Mac.

Deleting things

Deleting a sticky moves its note to Recently Deleted in Notes, where you can recover it for 30 days, just like any other note. Removing the app leaves your notes untouched: they are yours, in your Notes account, and the StickyTabs folder stays exactly as it was.

Children

StickyTabs collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with a new date.
